<Dedicated to my own sweet cat, Nugget>
At Rest
His heat I loved with all my claws.
His absent minded petting caused
My many simple pleasure noises
Escaping into the deary fortress.
The worthy symbol of my love
Offered without a rake or rub.
Able fool sees nothing wrong
With my coddled nest upon.
Movement draws me to alarm.
His stature states a claw deserved.
Forced I am to move away,
And soon my warmth has gone astray.
How dare he move when at rest?
His day begins as mine digresses.
All my faults mean nothing less,
‘Cause the lap I sit upon has left.
