The Dragon’s Quest for Hopper starts off as any other low brow elf seeking a real place in life. He didn’t think the real place would be babysitter to a dragon. Part of him wishes the dragon mother decided on eating him instead of shoving him into this new role. What was he thinking getting involved with Linda or Hartliebe or thinking he deserved more in life than running a beer company. Beer is his life. Or it was. His life now seems a lot different. And scary.

Two days in, I manage to get him to slow down enough to stop. I think nothing of where we are or what his reason is, but I am glad to get a break. He takes no effort at all walking into someone’s residence. When I follow, I see a gun pointed at him by a pretty little elf. She has all the look of a five foot rose.
“I wanna…” Cyro begins and gets a bullet in his chest. If he wasn’t a dragon he would be dead.
“Get out of my house! Before I shoot you again, Demon!” She reloads the gun like a professional.
I sigh forcing Cyro to bow his head. “Sorry for intruding on…” The gun goes off and sends a bullet into my arm. I growl at such an ill greeting. “I was apologizing here.”
“Only demons can take bullets and not die. Get out!” She reloads again.
“I think I’m getting a little hungry for elfin meat,” Cyro whispers to me and gets two bullets in a row in his shoulders. He only stands up glaring at her. “If you don’t stop that I will…”
“Stop it Cyro.” I point the wand at him and he stops automatically. Maybe this magic will work on the elf too. I turn to her as he nocks her gun again. “Stop, girl.” I watch as the bullet and the elf stop in mid shoot. The bullet falls to the ground. “Seriously. We did not mean to cause…”
“Like hell!” Cyro crawls a little to his feet. “And stop that! I came here to find Jess. Dorothy said she was her second before things ended.”
“Stop with the Terrick crap. There is no such place.”
“Dorothy said otherwise.” Cyro moves to me. I hold the wand up ready to use it again. He crosses his arms annoyed. “Jess was supposed to live here. Not a bat shit crazy gun toting maniac.” He glares at the girl. She looks to still be under my wand’s charm.
“I’m sorry, we should be going.” I nod to her taking up the dragon’s arm. “Let’s go Dragon Cyro.” I stop as we reach the door even though Cyro mutters insults. “Start.” I use the wand hopeful that works. She lowers her gun at my command staring at me wide eyed. “I truly am sorry to barge in.”
“Wait.” She holds a hand up to us. Cyro glares at her again. “If Dorothy sent you, then it must be important.” She pushes her hair behind her ear. The vivid red clashes with her green skin in a good way. It did nothing for me though after she shot at us several times even if I was only hit once. “I’m Jess.”
Cyro skips past me to stand before the female with his hand out. “Good. Let’s get to talking then.”
“She just shot at us!” I complain as he settles himself in for a conversation. “Dragon Cyro…”
“She knows Terrick. I don’t care if she tried to hurt me. It’s not like she can hurt me.” Cyro looks at the woman with interest. “You will tell me more, won’t you?”
What does one do when in this situation? I don’t know magic well enough to stop him. Dropping into a chair, we end up getting the same tale told to us again. Jess though made a lot of embellishments when it came to her skills as a pirate. I only became nauseous during.
All I know how to do is make beer. Somehow I ended up on this stupid journey to find a make believe place with a crazy dragon who is no more an adult than the Gerber Baby.
When Jess finishes, she offers us a long list of people to see. The first being the girl next door: Amanda. She was the Mad Hatters’ magical arsenal. And one of the few non elves. I walk after Cyro. He has his mind set which means I have no choice. I stare down the street at a sign that reads ‘BAR’. He wouldn’t leave without me, right? I glance to the place before continuing onward. I am so done with his dragon craziness. At least until I am half drunk.
