Poem: Drowning

(Life can be exhausting.)

Drowning

Drowning
standing still
yet falling under
the water rises
without much pressure
it’s not climate

the shore has moved closer
my account’s missing moola
someone’s thieving
taking hand outs
when nothings transferred

the tides hit me
good thing I’m standing
current’s never ending
soon I’m rolling in the waves
help me

drowning in the sea of misery
most can’t recall a time of freedom
never seeing land since the beginning
or touching the soil below the toes

knowing what they’re missing
the poor’s just suffering
nothing’s gonna change
if those who control the waves
always stay dry
