Guess what’s happening!

Poem a Day May 2020

I’ve done this before. I’ve attempted three times and been successful twice. Cyro has joined me all three times. They were truly successful once. They were little the first time, so the few poems could be called a success. Depends on your definition.

This year I will attempt again. And I’m forcing Cyro to at least try.

Our goal: a poem every day for the entire month of May.

Would I call it a success if we don’t reach 31 poems? Yes. If we manage twenty a piece I’ll consider it a win. If you are interested in joining us, reach out to me by message or comment.

2015 I went in with nothing. I asked people on the day for a word to work with. Or I came up with my own. It was random, which is very much me.

2018 we created a collection of words. Or really, Cyro did with a little help from others. We had several people say they’d join us and they did write a few poems. Cyro and I were completely successful. We both had a poem a day all month.

2019, last year, we had a collection of fantasy/mythical creatures to write poems about. We did several. I finished about half the month before stopping. Cyro did less than that. And no one helped us.

This year, I plan to complete it. Even if I’m on my own. I’ve been struggling with residuals from covid that I had almost two months ago. It hasn’t been fun. Still, this is proof I’m good enough. This is part of why I am a good poet.

The task this year will be to use a song. The poem will be named song title by singer instead of a typical name. It will come about because of the song in some way. It could be the music’s movement. It could be some memory that the song invokes. It could be a word or line or saying that’s used. It could be something in the music video.

That means we’re going to have a playlist for this one. A very obvious playlist. So if you pay attention to my youtube, I’ll be building a new playlist called Poem a Day May 2020.

Both of us did a poem based off of a song in April. I wrote based on Runaway by Gdragon. Cyro made a poem based off of Coup De’tat by Gdragon. I’ll probably add them into the book even if the poems were made a touch early.

If you’re interested in joining or reading the poems as they happen, give me a shout out. Or torment Cyro. They probably need the torment to stay on task.

I already have an idea for a cover. I haven’t fixed it up yet. If you have favorites songs drop them in the comments. This should be fun!
