(I set up the rest of the year of poems. More than half the year is gone. But this poem, though… I won’t wait.)
One Picture
in my hands are many pretty pictures
none of them I hold dear
all of them except for one
are worth not a care
for each of us its different
the one picture in our thoughts
for me it is my planet
the beautiful earth I’m on
my friend, he loves his family, his girlfriend, and his dog
my father, he wishes for the service, he left when he was young
each of us have different pictures
some with trees or seas
but each one picture is the one
thing or things we need more than anything
this picture is in out heart
and it will never be released
changes may come to it as we grow
but it will always be
our one picture
full of reasons to live
