Over the next few months, I will unpublishing everything.
That sounds horrible.
But it isn’t. I want to switch all my projects over to D2D. I’ll start by publishing Fireworks there. I need to get a feel for how to do it. It’s slightly different (every site is).
While setting all my stories as 2nd/3rd drafts, I want to also get my website up to perfection. I need to make it a website, not a blog. Right now, it’s a chaos blog. I need a legit website for my books.
D2D will auto post to the following sites: Amazon, Apple Books, Barnes & Noble, Kobo (including Kobo Plus), Tolino, OverDrive, Bibliotheca, Scribd, 24Symbols, Baker & Taylor, Hoopla, and Vivlio. If the site you use isn’t on the list, let me know. I can easily upload my book/ebook to any site.
I am pulling from Smashwords and KDP. Both have given me problems. I was just going to ignore the problems until I started listening and researching D2D.
I found D2D a year or so ago. The requirements of learning a new site were beyond what I was willing to do at the time. With this recent update to my books, I ended up hitting walls on both Smashwords and KDP. After wasting the time and suffering through frustration, I started looking.
It will let me create paperbacks, hardcovers, and ebooks all on one site. It will let me schedule sales so I can create events for those sales. I can post my ebooks for free (which I would love to do for some of them). Amazon will revert the free books to 99 cents until enough people yell at them.
I can even set up preorders. That was removed from my capabilities on KDP because one issue makes them mad. I just need to make sure everything is ready ten days in advance (or extend the publishing date).
All in all, I’ll probably end up with some problems on the new site, but that’s a later issue. I’ve heard good things from other self pubbers. This should help me manage things better.
During these few months, everything around me will change. Hopefully, it turns out beautiful. If you have any suggestions or requests, tell me now. I have ideas forming, but haven’t started the transition yet.
When Fireworks goes up, that’s when things will start coming down.
Wish me luck!
Update:: The site is changing. Please be patient.
Cat Hartliebe is not moving the books away from Smashwords and KDP. D2D has it’s own issues. Check out Publishing my stories for more information.
